No Reserve: 993-Style 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet G50 for sale on BaT Auctions – ending October 10 (Lot #166,279)
This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera has been modified in the style of a 993-generation cabriolet, with changes that have included the addition of 993-style bodywork, lighting, mirrors, trim, and 18″ Turbo Twist-style wheels along with a repaint in yellow. The cabin has been revised with a 993-style steering wheel, instrument bezels, door panels, and rear seat cushions as well as an aftermarket shifter lever, an Alpine head unit, Rennline pedals, and replacement seats that are upholstered in black leather. The car retains its 3.2-liter flat-six, which is linked with a five-speed G50 manual transaxle. This 993-style Carrera cabriolet is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve in Utah with a clean Carfax report and a clean Illinois title.
The car left the factory as a Guards Red (L80K) cabriolet, and it was fitted with 993-style bodywork, mirrors, trim, and lighting prior to a repaint in yellow. The convertible soft requires manual operation. The rear spoiler is electrically actuated via a switch, but it does not deploy automatically at speed. The power mirrors do not work, and cracked paint is noted on the front bumper cover along with a ding in one of the rear quarter panels.
The 18″ 993 Twist-style wheels are mounted with Michelin tires. The front brake calipers have been repainted in red.
The cabin has been altered in the style of a 993-generation Porsche, with changes including a leather-upholstered and stitched dashboard, revised 993-style door panels, and 993-style rear seat cushions. An aftermarket head unit has been installed, Rennline pedals and kick panels have been added, and the replacement seats have been reupholstered. The air-conditioning system does not work.
A 993-style four-spoke steering wheel has been installed along with silver rings for the instrument dials. The six-digit odometer shows 83,396 miles, fewer than were recorded in an October 2021 entry in the Carfax report, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.2-liter M930/25 flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management and was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a G50 five-speed manual transaxle.
